Samantha Pysher Post#9 The Nightmare Before Christmas, 1993, Henry Selick

The Nightmare Before Christmas is about Jack Skellington, the king of Halloweentown, how discovers Christmas Town and doesn’t quite understand the concept of Christmas. Halloweentown is a dream world filled with monsters such as deformed monsters, ghost, ghouls, goblins, vampires, werewolves, and witches. This film is great for both young children and adults who have grown up with the movie. All age groups can enjoy this movie because it offers a little bit for every generation from the spooks to the jokes even down to the plot of stealing Christmas. Despite the spooky material the film plays well to adults and children because it doesn’t exclude one group over the other at any time. The basic plot is a great little fantasy fairytale with a very dark heart to it that makes it much more enjoyable, verse an actually fairytale with sparkles and frills and romance. The musical numbers in it add to the overall enjoyment of the movie making the audience sing along when the songs pop up in the movie. The animation of stop motion adds to the films overall ambiance causing the viewers to fall head over heels for this movie.
