Samantha Pysher Post#7 Addam's Family Values, 1993, Barry Sonnenfeld
The Addam’s Family Values is a comical gothic
horror type film with a gothic type family that tries to save their beloved
uncle from his gold digging new love. The film, Addam’s Family Values, a sequel
to The Addam’s Family which premiered in the year 1991, the actors in both
films is the same. I feel that the Addam’s Family Values is superior to its
predecessor in many ways. In the first film it spent most of its time
establishing the Addam’s family whereas in the sequel, Addam’s Family Values,
there was more time to play with the family because the audience knows who the
Addam’s family is. The characters in the Addam’s Family values get more of a
chance to develop as the progress through a more cohesive story. I love
Christina Ricci’s portrayal of Wednesday Addams, she did a very good job and in
a way steals the film from her more established co-stars. Throughout the film
there are some hilarious one-liners, it is funny how the film is self-mocking
about its image conscious rich societies. Overall hilarious movie that will
keep you coming back for more.
