Jill Rosenblum Post #9 Bad Lieutenant (1992)

Bad Lieutenant (1992) directed by Abel Ferrara is about a Lieutenant who has a pretty bad reputation. He does drugs, drinks a lot of even messes around this prostitutes. His life seems to be going downward until he takes on a case that might change his view on his life. When he works on a case where a nun is raped and tries to help her he starts to see that wants forgiveness and to change his life for the better. Although he is still in a struggle with his own life. In the beginning of the movie his kids are shown who he is a bad father to and does not really care about what they do. He realizes that his life needs a change and that's when the nun comes in and helps him. The Lieutenant is happy and realizes that he can change his life and all he needed was a little help.

This movie uses a lot of head shots and medium close up shots, as well as full body shots to try to capture the emotions of each character being portrayed. This movie really tries to capture emotion of each character so the audience knows the ballads that each character is going through. I think each shot shows emotion well.

I did not like this movie a lot. This movie was just really depressing and I felt like there were a lot of moments where nothing was really going on. I think if someone wanted to watch a movie that was depressing they might enjoy it, however this was not one of my favorites.
