Jill Rosenblum Post #6 Toys (1992)

Toys (1992) Directed by Barry Levinson is about Leslie Zevo (Robin Williams) who is the son of a toymaker. Leslie shows passion and care just like his father in everything with toys and is a fun loving guy who loves the toy company and workers. However, after Leslie's father dies he decides that the toy company should go to his brother who is a 3 star general in the military. General Leland Zevo is very stern and has been out of the toy making business and has lost his touch with falling in love with the toys unlike his brother Leslie. When Leland takes over the company, things go downhill from there. Leland wants to change the entire company for worse. He begins to create violent video games and actually starts recruiting children to join in on these video games and brain wash them into liking the violence. Leland even makes violent toys are well such, although Leslie is obviously to this at first he then realizes what his brother is really doing with the company and decides to take action to save his father's toy company.

This film used a lot of close up and medium close up shots as well as over the shoulder shots. I really noticed the close up shots of the actors faces though because this movie tries to grasps the viewers emotion. I think they try to grab emotion the most because this movie might want to bring out the kid in everyone. Also this movie is about a toy factory so it should be heart warming is some ways and try to grab the viewers emotions.

I really liked this movie and I would watch it again, although it was a little bit lengthy and I felt like a lot of movie could have been cut, it was good. I could relate to it a lot because as a child you love toys and no one wants to grow up out of childhood. I really liked Robin William's character because he played the part perfectly and really made the audience fall in love with his character and I really though the sets and backgrounds were perfect for this movie and really different.
