Post #10: Point Break, 191 Directed by Kathryn Bigelow

Point Break was released in 1991 and was directed by Kathryn Bigelow. The interesting lead roles were played by Keanu Reeves and Patrick Swayze, which was very random to see. Some other familiar faces were Gary Busey and John McGinley. The film was action from start to finish. There was everything from fights, stunts, cars, foot chases, sex appeal and explosions.  Many events in Point Break create a powerful adrenaline pumping action sequences. Fighting takes place frequently and in many different environments. These situations build tension and provide entertainment.
Fist fighting is not the only conflict confronted in Bigelow's film. Shootouts involving rifles, pistols and shotguns are essential classics to a good action film. I feel as though the bank robbery scene paved the way for the modern films that include the same element.  It includes the violence and weaponry with aggressive language just like all the rest. The events in the movie were powerful but obviously 90s film. The technology and quality of films with the same genre and theme have greatly improved since then.
I was not surprised by Keanu Reeve’s strong role but this was the first I have seen of Patrick Swayze as such a strong character. The other movies I have seen him in, he played a rather soft role. This was shocking to see and almost funny. I think he tried a little extra hard to pull it off.  The explosions were pretty cool and well done for the time period.
